SOLD Chip is a beautiful 16hh, 12-year-old grey gelding with the kindest temperament and a wonderful attitude to life. He is a genuine all-round horse looking for a loving, knowledgeable home where he can enjoy life to the fullest.

Chip has a very special story. I first met him when he was just five years old, fresh out of racing. The moment I saw him standing in the lorry, I said, “One day he’s going to be mine.” Four years ago, after retiring from racing completely sound and injury-free, that dream became a reality.

During the three years I owned him, Chip proved himself to be an absolute pleasure. We enjoyed countless happy hacks, pleasure rides, adult riding camps, and clinics together. He is a fantastic horse to travel, happily loading and travelling without fuss, even when I went out alone.

He hacks confidently both alone and in company, is sensible in traffic, and enjoys living in a herd, where he mixes well with other horses. On the ground he is affectionate, easy to handle, and has no known vices. Under saddle he schools nicely, enjoys his jumping, and is a genuine, versatile all-round riding horse.

Around a year ago I made the difficult decision to sell Chip, with the understanding that if his owners’ circumstances ever changed, I would be given first refusal to bring him home. Sadly, that time has now come.

Since returning, Chip had been turned away in a field for several months, which resulted in him losing some condition and his feet becoming neglected. He has since had a front set of shoes fitted and is already much more comfortable. He has always gone best in shoes, so please no enquiries from homes wishing to keep him barefoot.

Chip is up to date with his vaccinations, worming programme and dental care, and is now ready to begin his next chapter.

This is an incredibly difficult sale, and finding the right forever home is far more important than a quick sale. Chip deserves someone who will appreciate his kind nature and everything he has to offer. He will make a fantastic partner for hacking, riding club activities, pleasure rides, clinics, low-level competitions, or simply as a much-loved all-round horse.
